چکیده

Morphometric and meristic studies can be used to identify stocks relationships between populations of fish resources. Lutjanus gibbus is a species commonly found in the waters northern Papua one fishery commodities targeted by fishermen other than groupers. In this study, morphometric characteristics L. snapper from several locations Seas were addressed. The study was conducted June July 2022. One hundred six individuals examined using cluster, Pearson correlation, Principal Component Analysis (PCA). findings demonstrated substantial correlation these species’ traits, particularly regarding relationship total length standard (0.960) fish’s bodies. According PCA analysis, length, distance ventral fin end origin are three most important features. Meristic traits like anal-fin spine soft ray exhibit stable numbers across all populations, but show significant individual variation. results Correlation analysis dendrogram reconstruction, had strong high degree similarity. Character similarity indicate that there no structure formed populations.

Feeding biomechanics of juvenile red snapper (Lutjanus

INTRODUCTION Ecomorphological studies are predicated on identifying patterns among morphology, behavioral performance and ecology (Wainwright, 1994), and have been utilized to test a variety of hypotheses concerning the relationships between feeding performance and foraging ecology among teleosts (e.g. Clifton and Motta, 1988; Wainwright, 1996). Ecomorphological studies are also useful in exami...

A new species of Kudoa lutjanus n. sp. (Myxosporea) is described from the brain and internal organs of cultured red snapper Lutjanus erythropterus from Taiwan. The fish, 260 to 390 g in weight, exhibited anorexia and poor appetite and swam in the surface water during outbreaks. Cumulative mortality was about 1% during a period of 3 wk. The red snapper exhibited numerous creamy-white pseudocysts...

Regional variation in mercury and stable isotopes of red snapper (Lutjanus campechanus) in the northern Gulf of Mexico, USA.

The presence of total mercury (Hg) in fish tissue and the potential associated health risks has become a global concern in marine ecosystems. Few studies have examined basin-scale variation in Hg accumulation in marine ecosystems, and determining if Hg concentrations in fish tissue vary across marine ecosystems is a key monitoring question. The present study evaluated Hg concentrations in red s...
